BirdNest @ Bunyonyi Resort
The Resort is located in Southwest Uganda close to the border between Congo and Rwanda. It takes only 2 hours driving from Kigali and 7 hours driving from the capital city Kampala to nearest town Kabale.
BirdNest@Bunyonyi Resort is strategically located that a visitor first meets it before reaching the lake and the Resorts impressive nature on the inside is what is portrayed outside. A group of Belgian investors created it in 2011 after finding a small ruin at a tremendous location. They built it in a way that gives each of the 14 rooms full panoramic lake views. All rooms have a personal touch with a tasteful mix of European and African designs and range from USD 110 to 150.

The resort restaurant and reception are located in one big space that provides a cozy atmosphere. The kitchen is the best in the area, offering a large menu with delicious meals and specialties, for example crayfish and the famous unbeatable Belgian chips. The spacious terrace with a fireplace and the large ecological lakeshore swimming pool are the central spots for relaxing satisfaction. Different activities organized by the resort will make your Bird Nest experience even more complete.
The staffs are trained following European standards and the management is directly handled by the owners which guarantee a professional approach with lots of personal attention. The Resort has wonderful ecological lake shore Swimming pool. Visitors to the Resort are encouraged to Feel free to use (at own risk) the ecological swimming pool. Towels are provided by the pool attendant. Use of the pool is free for overnight guests but for day visitors they are supposed pay 10.000Ushs per person and the Pool table. At the side of the swimming pool visitors will always find the snooker pool table and for interest visits they are requested to pay 500 Ushs per game.
The Resort also has Canoes at the dock and hence organizes Canoe trips. The use of the canoes is free but it’s always done at own risk for overnight guests. Once in the Resort visitors are requested to ask the pool attendant to supply you with peddles and life jackets if needed. Unguided use by day visitors are supposed to pay fee of 30.000Ushs and Two hour trip with guide costs 50.000Ushs.
The Motorboat trips which can be done at visitors risk takes you along the numerous islands of Lake Bunyonyi and the payments for 2 hour lake exploration is 80.000Ushs and 3 hour lake exploration is100.000Ushs.
The Resort organizes different activities for visitors and among these include-Nature/Community walks, -Batwa visit, Gorilla trekking and Bird watching as Bunyonyi translates as ‘place of birds’. Therefore it is no wonder it offers great birding opportunities. Ask the reception for more information about possibilities and they will arrange a birding trip according to your demands.,

Bunyonyi Overland Resort
Bunyonyi Overland Resort is located around “Lake Bunyonyi the jewel of Western Uganda" .On the lakes shores, Bunyonyi Overland Resort offers visitors a strategic base to explore the lake, or a wonderful stop-over on your way to visit the Mountain Gorillas in the national parks of Uganda in South Western Uganda and the neighboring country Rwanda.
Bunyonyi Overland Resort is ecologically built, with local materials. It is locally owned and provides important employment opportunities for the people around the lake.
The Resort is found in Kabale district which is about 410 kilometers south-west of Kampala.
Bunyonyi Over land Resort offers accommodation facilities to guests in comfortable safari tents, rooms, cottages and family cottages. They also offer a self-camping option for those with their own equipment and a comfortable .rent a mobile tent' with or without bedding arrangement in the Resort pleasant gardens. The description of the accommodation types are given below;
Furnished Safari Tents: the Resort 10 safari tents are mounted on raised platforms each with its own terrace, and wonderful views out over Lake Bunyonyi. The tent is furnished with twin beds, electric lighting, 2 director’s chairs, a writing table and a hammock for your comfort. This accommodation uses our shared bathroom and toilet facilities. The safari tents are very popular with our visitors so be sure to book early.

Cottages: Each of the Resort 12 cottages located in two terraced blocks with panoramic views up the lake offer both twin bedded and double bedded occupancy options. These rooms are very suitable for those looking single occupancy accommodations. The rooms are all self-contained with their own bathroom, toilet facilities. Each room has a small private terrace to relax, read your book and enjoy a sundowner drink at the end of the day. Electric lighting and power points are provided for your comfort.
Family Cottages: The 2 family cottages are completely self-contained units, and fully furnished for visitor’s convenience. Satellite TV is also included in the furnishings. Each unit has a longe, two bedrooms and comfortably sleeps 4 persons. A fully equipped kitchen with utensils is also part of the accommodation package. The cottages have a small terrace and lawn frontage on which to picnic.
Rooms: The four rooms make up part of one terraced block. This accommodation is not self-contained where by guests utilize the same shared bathroom and toilet facilities of the campsite and safari tent guests. Electric lighting and power points are provided for your comfort.
Rent a mobile tent: For those on a budget traveling without the burden and bulk of their own camping equipment why not consider renting a mobile tent from them with or without bedding. Choose your pitch and they will set it up and furnish for you. This is the easy camping alternative.
Self-camping: If you have your own equipment the Resort gardens and dedicated camping area provide a serene, safe, cheap and comfortable environment for your stay at Lake Bunyoni Overland Resort.

On the side of Responsible Tourism, the Resort has been implementing a tree planting campaigns at their lodge and in the surrounding areas. They also encourage visitors to at least plant a tree while staying at the lodge to promote the environmental conservation campaign.
They take visitors to learn about the lives of the local population, their farming activities and how community tourism is directly benefitting villagers. Local communities are invited to sell their locally made handcrafts to the Resort guests.
The Resort works directly with local guides on village walks. This helps tourists attain the most authentic experience while simultaneously giving back to the community.
The Resort staff and guides are from the local community. The cultural authenticity and quality of your trip will be something that you will never forget and they also purchase locally produced food, crafts, fabrics, lodge décor and furniture from the local community to help support the economy.
